The Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Plateau State University (PLASU) chapter, Bentse Pamson, has given reason why the union embarks on Indefinite strike, adding that, unresolved issues with the state government led to the industrial action.
Pamson said, there are about seven unresolved issues that necessitated the strike action.
“For instance, if you come to the university, you will not discover any capital project being funded by the state government except the ones being undertaken under TETFund. This is totally strange and unacceptable.
“We have already secured the approval of NEC to embark on local strike action at the Plateau State University if the state government fails to meet our demands,” he said.
He also listed lack of governing council, N215m unpaid earned academic allowances for eight academic sessions, underfunding among other issues identified by the members.
The chairman called on the government to prioritize education as it is a formidable panacea to national development/growth.
