How Late Odumakin Assisted OAU Faculty Of Arts To Raise Funds, VC

The Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, community has mourned the death of pan-Yoruba sociopolitical group, Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin, who took his last breath at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, yesterday, 3rd of April, 2021.

Odumakin, an alumnus of OAU who studied English in the Faculty of of Arts between 1985-1989 was once an executive member of the ever vibrant Great Ife Students’ Union.

Reacting to Odumakin’s painful exit, the Vice Chancellor of OAU, Prof. Eyitayo Ogunbodede in a release obtained by Vreporters which was signed by the Public Relations Officer of the institution , Mr Abiodun Olarewaju, on Sunday stated that, the university community received the report of his death with rude shock.

The release highlighted the vibrancy of the late Odumakin as a well-nurtured activist, a mass mobiliser, a great orator and the Public Relations Officer of the Students.

“As an Alumnus, he assisted the Faculty of Arts in raising funds for a few projects that were of immense benefits to the staff and students”.

Ogunbodede, prayed that the Lord Almighty would grant him eternal rest and his wife, family, friends, associates and Afenifere the fortitude to bear the monumental loss.
