Claims, Counter Claims Trail Pantami’s Role In Death of ATBU Student

Sunday Achi, 400-level Student of ATBU who lost his life during inter-religious crisis

As Allegations and counter allegations continue to flood the cyber space over the past of the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami in relation to his radical approach which, some alleged contributed to the lost of a life of a Christian student in Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, ATBU, in 2004.

A freelance Journalist who is also an author at News Wire, David Hudeyin claimed to have reached out to some alumnus of ATBU whom according to him witnessed the crisis.

According to Hudeyin’s tweets, he claimed that, a fatwa(Islamic Verdict) issued by Pantami, the then Chief imam of the University led to the death of 400-level Student of the institution, Sunday Achi.

In reaction to the Hudeyin’s tweets, one Abu Umar Alfarouqi who also claimed to be a 200-level student in the same institution berated Hudeyin, stated that the account given by the journalist was not accurate, he however gave his own account of the gory incident.

Pantami has been in the news since last week following the reappearance of some of his videos where he showed unhindered sympathy to renowned terrorist groups, Al-Qaeda and Taliban, though the Minister on Saturday renounced his radical position in the past stating that, his exposure and maturity then contributed to his remarks.
