Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has swallowed her humble pie by apologizing to the movie Practioners after initial grandstanding against the threat issued by the leadership of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) over what the association described as unguided statement by the actress.
Her apologies come days after the thespians’ association proclaimed disciplinary actions against her and another actor Nkechi Blessing for disrespecting elders of the association.
Iyabo Ojo has been at the forefront of campaigns to get fellow actor Baba Ijesha fall under the heavy hammer of the law following allegations that the latter defiled a minor.
Many veteran actors had sought to prevail on the agitators and allow the matter be settled amicably.
Despite appeals by many elders of the group, Iyabo Ojo stoutly refused to be dissuaded, calling out her opponents as rape apologists.
The association subsequently barred its members from having any working relationship with Iyabo Ojo for engaging in social media rants and embarrassing the association.
The actress later tendered her apologies to her colleagues in an Instagram interview with Nollywood activist, Esther Aboderin, Esabod, on July 1.
Iyabo Ojo captioned the live video conversation thus:
“To my able and ever-humble president of TAMPPAN @mrlatin1510 thank you very much, sir. Our big daddies @adebayo.salami @princejidekosoko @realyinkaquadri, on behalf of @nkechiblessingsunday my darling aburo & my humble self, we apologise to you sirs.
“We’re sorry for getting you upset. You’re our elders & leaders; we respect you, we’re humbled before you, we will forever appreciate you & honour you. It’s all Peace & Love.”
TAMPPAN president Mr Latin had also in the interview with Esabod sued for peace, apologising to Nigerians and other colleagues for threatening sanctions against those fighting against rape and child molestation.
He said it was not the intention of the group to shield immorality or condone criminalities within its ranks, saying the concern of the association was to maintain order and allow justice to prevail.
Mr Latin assured that the actors body would make corrections and avoid actions that could cast it in bad light in future.
