Update On Minister Who Slumped While On Official Engagement in Bauchi

A reliable source at the trauma centre of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi where the Minister of State for Industry, Trade and investment, Maryam Katagum was rushed to for medical attention has said that the Minister has regained consequences and stable.

When Tribune Online correspondent visited the hospital on Tuesday, medical personnel who confided in Tribune Online said that the needed medical treatment was given to the Minister since she was rushed in on Monday.

The staff added that with the situation of things, the Minister has been stabilized and is stable now though more medical treatment will be required to completely get her back to normal assuring however that there is cause for alarm as far he health is concerned.

He however declined to disclose what ailment the Minister was treated for aside from saying that all is well with her having been given the best medical attention available at the hospital by a team of consultants and medical staff.

Checks by Tribune Online revealed that a directive was being awaited from the Presidency on the next line of action to be taken.

None of the aide and officials of the Ministry nor Bauchi State Government was ready to make comments on the situation.

When contacted, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of ATBUTH, Dr Yusuf JIBRIN Bara said that “She has been treated and discharged. Already returned to Abuja this morning.”

It will be recalled that the Minister had on Monday slumped while attending a public event in Bauchi and was rushed to ATBUTH for treatment.
