UI Announces Emergence of Professor of Chemistry as Substantive 13th VC

Authorities of the premier university, the University of Ibadan, UI, has announced Professor Kayode Adebowale as the Vice-Chancellor of the institution.

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of school, Chief John Odigie Oyegun made the disclosure in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Thursday.

Oyegun, let this our at a press conference held shortly after the council screen eight candidates shortlisted for the apex position in the university.

The eight candidates who were shortlisted from the 15 aspirants were: Professor Adeyinka Aderinto, the acting Vice Chancellor Prof A.B Ekanola, Professor Hakeem Fawehinmi, Professor Ebenezer Olatunde Farounbi, Professor Babatunde Lawal Salako, Professor Kayode Adebowale, Professor Ganiyu Aderounmu and George Olusegun Ademowo.

The Professor of chemistry until his appointment was the current deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic).

Professor Kayode Adebowale is renowned chemist with enviable Academic and professional qualification; B.Sc. (Ibadan), M.Sc. (Ibadan), Ph.D. (Ibadan); mni, FAS, FRSC, FCSN, FSAN, FAVH, EPIN, FAAS.

Professor Adebowale is now the 13th substantive Vice Chancellor of the university and he succeeds Professor Abel Idowu Olayinka, the 12th Vice Chancellor of the institution.
