Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Engr. ‘Seun Fakorede , today, Wednesday received in audience the management board of Ambiance Media Ltd., which, according to Mr. Oluwatosin Sanya of Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) has been a long-term partner of the Corporation.
The essence of the meeting, according to the release by the media Aide to the commissioner, Kazeem Olalekan Israel was to intimate the Commissioner of their forthcoming marathon and aerobics event slated to hold June next year.
The meeting was attended by the Director, Sports Administration, Mrs. Adegoke O. J. and the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Oyadeyi Oludele both of which are prominent personalities in the ministry.
“During the cause of the meeting, Mr. Ayodeji Adesokan, the Country Manager of Ambiance Media Ltd. made it known that the Marathon programme tagged Ere Ije is “to bring the world to Oyo State and Ibadan in particular because Ibadan is the right place to come to exhibit the programme considering the attention being paid to the Sports’ sector by the Governor.” According to him, Ere Ije is the first marathon and aerobics event in Nigeria.
“However, Mr. Boluwaji Ogunmola of BCOS corroborated the point that was made by the Country Manager of Ambiance Media Ltd. that ‘the programme is scheduled to actualise the dream of projecting Ibadan to the world and bring the world down to Ibadan.” He also made it known that “the programme has already being sanctioned by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria.
“Mr. Adesokan declared that the essence of their visit to the Commissioner is to ensure that they get the support of the Ministry and that it is a form of a collaborative effort to birth new athletes, specifically youngsters that will go out there to make the State proud. He also made it known that they have seen that one of the key agenda of the Engr. Seyi Makinde’s administration is to get youths off the streets and massively engage them. He declared that “with this project, we will help actualise the dream of the State government as far as sports’ development is concerned.”
The Commissioner, Fakorede declared that “these are the things we love to see and encourage. We need collaborations from people that can come up with their own initiative and join hands with the government for the overall development of the State.”
