Oyo Govt Lauds 2021 Batch ‘A’ Corps Members, Honors Distinguished Member

The Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, FNSE, ably represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Engr. Seun Fakorede MNSE, commended the 2021 Batch A stream 1 corps members during their passing out parade which held at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan in the early hours of Thursday.

The recognition of the outgoing members of the NYSC was contained in a release issued by the media aide to the commissioner, Kazeem Olalekan Israel on Thursday.

According to the release, Fakorede , while delivering a goodwill message on behalf of the Governor expressed satisfaction at the conduct of the corps members throughout their time of service in the State. The Commissioner also recognized the “immeasurable commitment of the corps members to the development of the Pacesetter State through community project embarked upon by the corps members which has impacted the lives of the people in their host communities.”

The commissioner acknowledged a distinguished member of the scheme, Abdulbasir Chibuke John who was awarded with “State Honour” during the passing out ceremony.

The Commissioner assured that the gentleman would be recommended to the State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde FNSE to serve as a form of encouragement for others to be diligent.

He noted that, the corps members deployed to the state composed themselves in the best of manner which shows them as the major stronghold in the wheel of progress as far as the development of the country is concerned.

However, the Commissioner charged the corps members to uphold the ideals of the National Youth Service Corps as they move to join the labour force and to also explore the skills they have learnt during their service year towards reducing unemployment amongst graduates in the country.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner pointed at the efforts being put in place by the Oyo State Government towards curbing unemployment in the State. In his words, “the State government is working tirelessly to create opportunities through various empowerment projects because the government understands that it owe it as a responsibility to prioritize the welfare of the people.”

The Commissioner went further by saying that the State Government, in showing it commitment to the welfare of corps members in the State increased their monthly allowance to #15,000 in order to serve as motivation.
