The Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Engr. ‘Seun Fakorede, MNSE, on Thursday, 3rd of March, 2022 attended the final trial of the Oyo State Water Corporation football team which held at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba.
Media Aide to the Commissioner, Kazeem Olalekan Israel in a release issued in Ibadan said, during the inspection of the trial session, the Commissioner reiterated the fact that it was an unbiased selection process, which had 35 out of a total of 300 players.
According to the release, Fakorede made it known that, having the team on board would make Oyo State football community a better and more stabilised one and he also expressed his confidence in the fact that whenever the players are called upon to play for the Shooting Stars Sports Club, they would answer for the glory of the State.
The Commissioner also hinted to the players that if they should show “full dedication and commitment, they would start a formidable football career from here and then rise to global stardom.”
While commending the players and charging them to be committed to the goal of the team, the Commissioner commended the Chairman of the Oyo State Water Corporation, Dr. Adepoju for “resuscitating the Oyo State Water Corporation team.”
The team’s coach, Coach Dami, thanked the Commissioner for giving them the opportunity to work and deliver. He however assured the Commissioner that he holds the firm belief that the shortlisted players would bring result.
