Nafisat’s death was confirmed on Thursday morning by her Muslim friends and associates on MSSN WhatsApp platform .

The circumstances surrounding her death are still sketchy at the time of filing this report, as efforts to speak with her friends proved abortive.

Vreporters gathered that the deceased was said to have been seen on campus on Wednesday .

Unconfirmed report has it that, Nafisat died while she was being taken to the Varsity teaching hospital, OAUTHC on Thursday .

When Vreporters contacted the university public relations officer, Mr Abiodun Olanrewaju about the incident, he said, the information at his disposal is still sketchy.

Speaking with Ameer of the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria, OAU chapter, Rahman Quadri on Friday about the lost of Nafisat, Quadri said, the information at his disposal was relayed to him by the deceased’s friend, whom he said slept together in the same room on Wednesday.

Quadri further told this medium that, the late Nafisat has been nursing undisclosed ailment which is well known to the parents.

He added that, according to what he gathered from the friend, the health complications started around 1am, and the father of the deceased was part of those who were first informed about the incident.

He said with the help of those that were alerted by the lady to rescue her ailing friend, they were able to get the attention of concerned officials of the school who facilitated ambulance that was used to transport her to the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, OAUTHC, for urgent medical attention.

Quadri affirmed that, he had no report that the deceased was first rushed to the school health Centre, as against the rumored that medical officers officers at the school health center didn’t give the deceased maximum attention. He added that the deceased was brought to OAUTHC dead.

When asked about the roles the management of the institution played in rescuing the deceased, he said, by the time he got to the hospital around 9 am, he met the Dean of Students’ affairs, Prof. Ishaq Aransi at the hospital and he was reliably told that the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Prof. Eyitayo Ogunbodede had ordered one of the principal officers at OAUTHC to give maximum medical attention to the late Nafisat.

Efforts to get clearer picture of what happened from the the Dean proved abortive, as Aransi told our reporter on Friday that he was at a meeting. When contacted few hours later, our reporter was unable to speak to him, as his phone rang ‘endlessly’.
