The leadership of Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU Ile-Ife, Students’ Union has confirmed the receipt of N720,000 illegally wired from the union account.
The confirmation of the funds was contained in a release issued by the public relations officer of the union, Ogunperi Taofeek on Thursday.
The release read in part: “The leadership of the Union will like to confirm to the generality Great Ife students that the much debated missing Union funds is now reversed.
“This is coming as a result of the relentless efforts of the Executives of the Union, including but not only the Financial Secretary, Comrade Oluwasegun Abiola Joy “Legbeti” (wa.me/2349052762075) and the President, Comrade Olayiwola Folahan Festus “Reform” (wa.me/2347039281006), buoyed by the checks of Honourables and Great Ife students in general”.
The union hailed its conscious members for their doggedness and ‘fight to finish’ exhibited during the cause of revelation of the illegally wired funds.
The disappearance of the funds was first raised by Eagles Post a couple of weeks ago, though some stakeholders among the students didn’t take it serious until the conscious ones made concerted move to follow the report which led to mobilisation of students to the bank premises located on campus on Monday.
As a result of pressure mounted on Principal officials of the Bank, a release was made available to the inquisitive students which Indicts the impeached former president of the SU, Oyekan Ibukun popularly known as ‘Dr Ibk’ as the prime suspect of the fraudulent act.
Vreporters reported yesterday that, Dr IBK was charged to court on two count charges and thereafter granted bail by the Magistrate.
As of yesterday, Dr IBK was unable to perfect his bail conditions which led to his remand in Kosere medium security prison in Ile-Ife.
