Why Progressive Northern Elites Support Tinubu’s Presidential Ambition – Tanko Al-Makura

Former Governor of Nasarawa State, Tanko Al-Makura yesterday revealed why some progressive Northern Elites worked relentlessly for the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, as the presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress(APC) adding that, Tinubu’s contributions to the enthronement of democracy in Nigeria played major roles in the process of throwing weight behind the former Lagos State Governor.

Al-Makura praised support groups in the North for their efforts in promoting Tinubu’s aspiration to become President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor.

He spoke with members of support groups that teamed up with Ahmed Tinubu Campaign Support Group (TCSG) in Lafia.

The former governor, who is now the Senator representing Nasarawa’s South senatorial zone appealed to all those who supported other aspirants during the APC presidential primary to also come together under the TCSG umbrella.

The Senator told the group members that the Northern progressives were also impressed with Tinubu’s records as governor of Lagos State between 1999-2007.

He said that the coming together of the different support groups would enable them to work together to galvanise support for the APC presidential candidate.

His words: “We are here to consolidate and get all the support groups together to wait for the direction of the campaign as would be directed by the central campaign organisation from the national level..”

“We are also here to meet with the teeming numbers of support groups of other presidential aspirants in Nasarawa State. There are up to hundred support groups. We sincerely thank them for the efforts they have been doing in promoting the aspiration of Ahmed Tinubu APC’s presidential flag bearer.”

“We call on every APC member in the state to come and join the train in order to ensure a landslide victory come 2023 for the emergence of Ahmed Tinubu as Nigeria’s president.”
