Updated: OAU Reportedly Loses Former VC, Elujoba

There is unconfirmed report that the former Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife, Prof. Anthony Elujoba is dead.

Elujoba, a Professor of pharmacognosy in the faculty of pharmacy involved in a a ghastly accident the previous week on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway where he was rushed to the hospital for intensive care, while his beloved wife died on the spot.

The Ife born Professor served as the acting Vice Chancellor of OAU from June 2016 to June 2017 when he neared his age limit for such a post. With his style of leadership and compassionate nature, he was able to bring stability to an institution in the midst of a crisis and was also known for incessant strikes. He was loved by the university community ranging from the academic staff, non-academic staff, contract workers, and students. He was also loved by the locals who found it easy to relate with him in the field of pharmacy linking to local methods of healing.

When Vreporters contacted the university spokesman, Mr Abiodun Olanrewaju, he said, the news of Elujoba death is still at the realm of rumor. Abiodun however promised to get back to this news medium to confirm the veracity of the report .
