The Nollywood community has once again been thrown into a mourning phase as it lost one of its own, Murphy Afolabi. The thespian who was popular in the Yoruba movies sector was announced dead via the verified Instagram page of iconic movie star, Odunlade Adekola.
Breaking the sad news, Adekola posted the picture of Afolabi with the caption, “Jesus Christ, we lost Murphy.’
The famous Nigerian actor was born in Osun State. He was from Osogbo town. Afolabi was born on May 5th and it was gathered that he died at 49.
Regarding his education, Afolabi attended Ire Polytechnic where he studied movie production, mass communications and Theatre Arts. It was learnt that he graduated 17 years ago, in 2001.
His first film project was a movie titled ‘Ifa Olokun’. However, the spotlight was due to his role in movies like ‘Owowunmi,’ ‘Jimi Bendel’ and ‘Mafi Wonmi.’ He featured in over 60 movies.
