Saudi Arabia Declares Wednesday as Eid-el-fitr Day

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has announced that the Crescent of the 10th Islamic lunar month, Shawaal wasn’t sighted in Key areas of the kingdom on Monday.

The Kingdom made the announcement via its official X handle, @Haramaininfo.

The tweets reads: “The crescent moon was NOT sighted in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, Eid Al Fitr will be celebrated on Wednesday, 10th April 2024.

“May Allāh ﷻ allow us to utilise the remaining moments of this blessed month to engage in that which pleases Him, may He accept our siyām, qiyām & a’māl & may He allow us to witness many more Ramadāns in good health. Āmīn”.

In Nigeria, the Commander of the Muslim faithful, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar has directed the Muslim Ummah in the country to look out for the new month of Shawwal today, Monday stating further that the sighting of the moon will mark the beginning of Shawwal 1445AH which will also be the day to celebrate Eid-el-fitr.

As at the time of filing this report, the Sultan is yet to make official announcement on whether the moon has been sighted in any part of the country or not.

According to Islamic jurisdiction, if the moon is not sighted in any part of the country, it will amount that, the Eid-el-Fitr will be celebrated on Wednesday, as Tuesday will mark the 30th day of Ramadan
