Corps Member Arrested in Ogun For Allegedly Defiling Minor

A 31-year-old member of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Solomon Daniel has been arrested by operatives of the Ogun state Police Command for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl at Ajowa, in the Ifo Local Government Area.

Daniel, who is currently undergoing his youth service programme at the Eweekoro Local Government Area, was accused of having carnal knowledge of the minor in an uncompleted building on Monday.

A police source, who was privy to the incident but was not allowed to speak, told PUNCH Metro on Wednesday that the case was reported by the victim’s father later that day.

It was said that the accused allegedly waylaid the minor, grabbed her waist and took her to an uncompleted building, where he defiled her.

The operatives of the Ifo Police Division took action by arresting the suspect after a report was made.

When PUNCH Metro contacted the spokesperson for the Ogun Police Command, Omolola Odutola, she confirmed the incident and noted that the suspect was a serving corps member. She said an investigation was ongoing on the case.

“A preliminary investigation has commenced into the defilement case. The suspect will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department at Abeokuta for discreet investigation,” Odutola said.

PUNCH Metro reported that two suspected rapists, Rotimi Boluwatife and Adeyemi Tosin, allegedly raped two female students with drugged noodles in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The female students’ meals were laced with cannabis, which was used to cook the noodles during a visit to the suspects’ house.
