Kwara Police Nab Cleric For ‘Killing’ Female Final Year Student For Ritual in Ilorin

The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a self-proclaimed cleric, AbdulRahman Bello, for allegedly killing a final-year student of the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin, for ritual purposes.

The victim, Lawal Hafsoh Yetunde, was declared missing on February 10, 2025, after she left a naming ceremony following a phone call. Investigations revealed that she had met the suspect on Facebook, where he reportedly obtained her contact details under false pretences and lured her to his residence.

Concerned about her disappearance, her family reported the case to the police at Oja Oba Division. Authorities tracked her last call, leading them to Bello’s location at Offa Garage.

Initially, Bello denied any involvement, but a search of his house uncovered dismembered human remains hidden in a bowl, along with tools allegedly used in the act. He later claimed the victim died of an asthma attack. Evidence found at the scene suggests this may not have been his first crime.

Confirming the arrest, Kwara State Police PRO, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, described the incident as “gruesome,” stating that investigations are ongoing.
