For many, the walls of a school hold memories of friendships, challenges, and growth. But for the alumni of Beulah Academy, their alma mater represents more than just nostalgia—it’s a place they are determined to give back to.

On Tuesday, 18th February 2025, a set of alumni returned to Beulah Academy, not just to reminisce but to inspire, mentor, and support the next generation of students. Their visit was driven by a shared goal: to strengthen alumni-student connections, contribute to the school’s development, and help current students navigate their academic journeys.

Ogungbe Victor( A Registered Nurse, who was also a one time SUG President of Oyo state College of Nursing Sciences) Salami Ewaoluwa, A Medical Student from the University Of Ibadan, Oludele Israel, a graduate of Mechanical Engineering from LAUTECH, Taslimah Woli, a graduate of Architecture from University of Ilorin and Ishola Rhoda, Psychology student in University of Ibadan

A Warm Welcome and a Shared Vision

The day began with a meeting between the alumni and school leadership, including the Principal, Mr. Oluokun, and the Vice Principal, Mr. Ezekiel. The discussion was centered on how former students could play a bigger role in shaping the future of Beulah Academy. Ideas ranged from structured mentorship programs to initiatives that could improve both academic and infrastructural development. It was clear that both the school management and the visiting alumni shared the same vision: to create an environment where students are inspired to excel.

Mentoring the Future Leaders

One of the most impactful moments of the visit was a special mentorship session with SS3 students. With final exams around the corner and the pressures of post-secondary decisions looming, this was the perfect time for a heart-to-heart conversation.

The alumni shared their personal experiences, emphasizing the importance of discipline, diligence, and making the right choices early in life. The session wasn’t just about giving advice—it was an honest and interactive discussion where students could ask questions and express their concerns about academics, career paths, and life beyond secondary school.

A Message for the Whole School

Following the mentorship session, the entire student body gathered for a general assembly. The alumni took this opportunity to reinforce key values that define success:
• Excellence and leadership: Encouraging students to be role models both academically and in character.
• Personal presentation and neatness: Reminding students that how they present themselves matters in every aspect of life.
• Hard work and perseverance: Highlighting the importance of pushing through challenges, both in academics and extracurricular activities.

Seeing their predecessors return as confident young professionals left a lasting impression on the students. The message was clear—success is attainable with focus and determination.

Encouraging Academic Excellence: The Mock JAMB Test & Scholarship Initiative

Beyond words of encouragement, the alumni took active steps to support academic excellence. In collaboration with the school management, they organized a mock JAMB test using real past questions. This initiative served two main purposes:
1. To help students assess their readiness for the actual JAMB exam.
2. To motivate them to take their studies seriously.

To further encourage academic performance, the top three students from the test were awarded full sponsorship for their JAMB registration:
1. Ohunakin Grace
2. Adojor Victoria
3. Olasupo Oluwapamilerin

The excitement and gratitude on the students’ faces showed just how much this gesture meant to them.

Ogungbe Victor, while addressing the student emphasized on the need to also be part of this movement when they graduate from the school and not consider the pain and unpalatable experience they might have had in the school rather think of the fact that the management has invested so much on them hence, the need to give back to them

The alumni reflected on the impact of their visit. It was evident that their presence had inspired and motivated the students. But beyond this one-day event, they recognized the need for long-term support.

With that in mind, they outlined plans for:
• A structured mentorship program to provide ongoing guidance to students.
• Academic workshops and career guidance sessions to help students make informed decisions about their future.
• Stronger collaboration between the alumni network and the school to ensure continued support.

The visit to Beulah Academy was more than just a reunion; it was a testament to the power of alumni engagement. It showed that past students can play a crucial role in shaping the future of their school by mentoring, encouraging, and investing in the next generation.

For the alumni, this was just the beginning. The goal is to continue building a legacy of support, ensuring that Beulah Academy remains not just a school, but a community where students grow into successful and responsible individuals.

And as they left the school grounds, one thing was certain—the impact of their visit would be felt for years to come.
