Leah Abduction: Government is not sharing any information with me

Leah’s Abduction: Government is not sharing any information with me, Nathan Sharibu Cries out


The father of Leah Sharibu, Nathan Sharibu has expressed his displeasure over the disposition of the Federal Government of Nigeria towards his daughter, Leah Sharibu who was abducted in Dapchi, Yobe state in 2017.

Recall that, Leah Sharibu was among the 112 school girls abducted by Boko Haram militants at the Government Girls’ Science and Technology in Dapchi, Yobe state on February 19, 2018.

Nathan expressed his displeasure via a phone interview on Ray Power fm in the early hours of Wednesday, 15th of May 2019.


When the Anchor asked about the mood of the family as Leah marked her 16th birthday in captivity yesterday which marked 449 days that, she has been held hostage by the terrorist group. Mr Nathan said, “we are all fine, we just did the celebration so that the world would know people have concern about Leah till this moment and we can’t do otherwise, it’s so sad.”


When asked, the type of support he has been getting from Nigeria government and other people, he said, “I’m not getting anything even any information from the government except for my loved ones both Muslims and Christians, they are visiting me, encouraging us and also praying.

“Government is not sharing any information with me except for last year October, the President himself called my wife on phone and encouraged us and assured us that his administration would try his possible best and make sure Leah returns home safely. Likewise he delegated 3 Minsters to my house in dapchi, Yobe state that our daughter would be brought back home safely since then, we didn’t hear anything from them again, Nathan said.”


When asked if other siblings of Leah are still going to school, he said,” right now they are still in school. I’m pleading that the government should fulfill their promise especially with the month of Ramadan that they are fasting I have to use the opportunity to appeal to bring those in captivity to their family, Leah’s Father appealed.
