Some political bigwigs from the ruling All Progressives Congress were on Monday ‘shunned’ the 80th birthday celebration of the former Edo state governor and the first National Chairman of the party, John Odigie Oyegun, which held in Benin, the Edo State capital on Monday.
Among the dignitaries spotted at celebration was the national chairman of the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Uche Secondus, also in attendance Senator Mamora from Lagos , who is among the ministers designate appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari, Edo State Chairman of the party, Chief Dan Orbih among others were at the special church service held in honour of the octogenarian while former President Olusegun Obasanjo sent a representative and his goodwill message.
Some of the dignitaries of the ruling party absent at the occasion include; President Muhammadu Buhari, the national leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu and the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole who is also from Edo state among others.
Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State was the only progressive governor that graced the birthday celebration held at Saint Paul Catholic Church Airport Road.
However, prominent Edo indigenes including the incumbent Governor, Godwin Obaseki, former Edo State governor, Lucky Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Francis Okiye and the minister designate, Osagie Ehanire were at the occasion to celebrate with the immediate past Chairman of APC on his 80th birthday celebration .
